France in the fourth pot for the Euro 2012 Championships – Euro 2012 news
Les Bleus may fear the worst for the draw of the 2012 European Championships co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland.
The draw is scheduled to take place on December 2, 2011 in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. This news was formalised by UEFA on Wednesday morning.
France national side is in the fourth and last cap, which means that they will certainly be in the group of death that could possibly include anyone of the likes of European and World Champions Spain, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 who qualified for the tournament
by beating http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bosnia-and-Herzegovina-c2856 4-2 in a two-legged playoff.
Other team in the group could include http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Greece-c2908 which means that Laurent Blanc’s man would have a fight on their hands in order to go past the group phase. The presence of Greece in the group would be serious news for Les Bleus as the Greeks
won the European Championships in 2004.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and Netherlands, France’s ranking went
down to 14th for distribution of the draw.
UEFA coefficients are based 20% on the path to Euro 2008 (qualification + finals), 40% of the route to the 2010 World Cup (qualification + finals) and 40% on the course to qualification for the 2012 European championships.
France performed woefully in the 2008 European Championships that were co-hosted by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990, France lost to
both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 (2-0) and finished bottom in their group.
The story was no different in last year’s World Cup in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956.
The recent performances in the last two tournaments are the major factors behind France standing in the UEFA Coefficients and Laurent Blanc knows that he must somehow prepare his team to make it beyond a group that is bound to be the toughest group of the
competition.
