Shortly after extending the contract of Brazilian international Michel Bastos, Les Gones have extended the contract of France international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The 24-year-old has signed an extension that would keep him with the French giants until 2013.
A statement on the club’s official website read, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 is pleased to announce the contract extension for Hugo Lloris who has committed to two more seasons with OL.”
Hugo Lloris arrived at the Stade de Gerland in 2008 on a five-year deal. The young goalkeeper has now extended his contract to two more years which would keep him at the Rhone club until 2015. Lloris has already made 154 appearances for Les Gones.
The statement further read, “Olympique Lyonnais welcomes his commitment over the long-term just like Michel Bastos who extended his contract a few days ago, which reflects the policy and new dynamics of the club.”
By extending Lloris’ contract, Les Gones have obviously sent out a strong signal of intend to the rest of the squad especially the young talent that has become vital to the club’s growth in recent months. Furthermore, club president Jean-Michel Aulas has
done well in binding Hugo Lloris to a new contract as the goalkeeper has been attracting a lot of attention from a host of European clubs.
Furthermore, extending the contracts of Michel Bastos and Lloris could also turn out to be a ploy by the Lyon supremo who would not want to sell the club’s two main players for a low price if need arises.
Lyon are currently in third place in the Ligue 1 standings and are in a great position to challenge for a Ligue 1 title that has eluded them for over four years.
