Following Lille OSC’s shocking 3-1 defeat at home to BATE Borisov in the Champions League, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international is out injured and will miss quite a few games for Rudi Garcia’s side
On paper, the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC earlier
this summer. However, it appears for now that Martin is the playmaker everyone thought he was only on paper.
While talking to media regarding Martin’s role in the team, coach Rudi Garcia admitted that the midfielder needs to take up more responsibility.
“He is better in the centre. He must take more responsibility. I told him and he will do it. He just arrived, he wants to blend into the community, he is almost too altruistic. I would prefer him to try more.”
However, since those statements, the former Sochaux star has not really been able to transform his form for Les Dogues. Worst of all is the fact that Martin seems to have completely lost his form. In the 3-1 defeat at the hands of BATE Borisov in the opening
game of the UEFA Champions League, Martin was simply nowhere to be seen and when he had the ball, the youngster was totally out of ideas.
Devoid of imagination and confidence, Martin wandered like a lost soul as Lille were sent crashing back to earth after a great team display by the Belarusians.
This was quite a blow for the player himself as he was supposed to be one of the main players of the club this season. And to top it all and to add further insult to injury, the midfielder injured his left adductor during the defeat which means that Rudi
Garcia cannot rely on the player for at least three weeks.
The news was confirmed by Garcia in a press conference.
“This is a bad news but you still see positive signs. He joined the staff late after the Euros, we will be able to patch him up.”
