I am planning a trip from France to England by car, iam going to take a lot of duty free products to sell in the UK. Is there a frontier from France to UK? How tight is security? Will my car get an extensive search? And whats the best route to take?

Thanx for your help

  1. Well, you will either cross by ferry or by train, and when I last made the trip (that's seven years ago, though), there wasn't that hard a search. The UK is part of the European Union, as is France, so searches are usually not that thorough. Sometimes they pick you out, though, for reasons only known to themselves. But I don't think you will have a problem.

  2. By frontier I think you mean border.

I do not think so since it is Europe, d**n those Europeans and their freedom

  3. I don't see why I should help someone who is trying to smuggle things into my country and avoid paying import duty or taxes

yes they search, for the very reason that what you're intending to do is illegal - and if you try to do it and get caught I'd say "thank goodness" and "well done"

  4. i hope you get caught

  5. I don't advise coming into the UK with a car full of f**s and booze becuase Customs give every vehicle a cusoury check, and if they notice a foreign registered car full of duty free goods they WILL! stop you and ask you some questions, Like why are you bringing so much in and is it for personal use, if you can't give satisfactory answers they will impound your car and take all your Booze, I've seen it happen countless times as I regularly cross the channel.

If you are intent on doing it I would go via the Tunnel as customs only check cars in france as when your off the train in the UK its straight to the motorway. But beware British Customs can seize your car in france.

It depends on your nationality, as certain cars tend to get stopped more then others(East European Cars).

Also if your car looks like it has a heavy load on you will get pulled and if stuff is hidden they will pull the car apart. I've had them search behind body panels before on my van just to check.

Like I said before the tunnel is your best bet

  6. There's still border control, and your car may get searched. It isn't worth the risk- if they find anything illegal, you will be heavily prosecuted.

There are a lot of crossings from France to England- I think Cherbourg to Southampton is a fairly normal one. Or Calais to Dover
