France vs. Argentina friendly series to begin in Paris – Hockey Update
After a few efforts made by the Argentinean coach Pablo Lombi, a friendly series has been possibly set between the Argentinean Men and the Frenchmen from April 12-14 in France at the National Institute of Sport and Physical Education (INSEP) in Paris, France.
The Old World team squad departed on April 9 from Ezeiza to attend their France Tour and will return back home on Friday, April 15.
With the mega event of the year, the Pan American Games 2011 (PAG) approaching, the coach is getting the Men’s team prepared for the competition to the utmost level. The PAG are to be held in Mexico from October 13-30.
After their previous series against France in February and against Belgium in March, the squad is all set to play their matches.
This tour comprises of a four-day camp with two scheduled matches to be played at the National Olympic training centre, INSEP that is located in the Bois de Vincennes in Paris.
Unlike Argentina, the Blues will play a series after two months since they played a four-game series in Buenos Aires. The 17th ranked team’s coach Scott Goodheart selected a team squad comprising of 23 players. He said, "We are finalizing the
selection of two teams, because our plans have changed a bit after the tour in February. We encountered some technical problems when we played four games in Buenos Aires, and we want to see if there has been progress in these areas. As such, the selections
will be slightly different from those initially planned. "
There are no tickets for the series and hockey fans can collect their chance to see both the 11th ranked visitors and the 17th ranked host teams in action at INSEP all for free.
These matches are also considered as the preparatory games for the next face-off between both the teams organised from July 26-31 in INSEP named as the INSEP Hockey Challenge.
The two matches have been scheduled as:
April 12: France vs. Argentina at INSEP
April 14: France vs. Argentina at INSEP
The Argentinean Men’s hockey squad sent to France for the friendly series comprises of Lucas Argento, Lucas Cammareri, Matias Vila, Matías González, Lucas Rey, Pedro Ibarra, Federico Bermejillo, Ignacio Bergner, Matias Paredes, Manuel Brunet, Rodrigo Vila,
Juan Martin Lopez, Lucas Rossi, Nahuel Salis, Agustin Mazzilli and Santiago Montelli.
The officials accompanied with the team include Pablo Lombi as coach, Jorge Lombi as assistant, Mariano Arias as kinesiologist, Javier Blanco as the team manager, Gabriel Figueiras as trainer and Rafael Micheli as videographer.
On contrary, the French squad to witness this home series includes Niels Gagnard, Henri Lhomme, Olivier Sanchez, Lois Sevestre, Valentin Migneau, Tom Genestet, Guillaume Samson, Matthias Dierckens, François Scheefer, Joost Jansen, Guillaume Deront, Fabien
Magner, Hugo Genestet, Martin Genestet, Jean-Baptiste Pauchet, Sebastien Jean Jean, Bastien Dierckens, William Samson, Lucas Sevestre Arnaud Becuwe, Cesar Hauet, Nicolas Monnier and Yannick Schambert.
The officials attending the Blues include Coach Scott Goodheart, Assistant Coach David Parker, team manager Sandra Harik, videographer Axel Guignard and physiotherapist Lionel Labadie.
