France wins Pool F match at FIVB Boy’s Youth World Championship - Volleyball
A Pool F match of the FIVB Boy’s Youth World Championship was played between France and Greece on August 24 at Bahia Blanca in Argentina. What followed was an interesting display of volleyball skill by both the sides but France was able to end up in the
winning corner by bagging the match at 3-1.
The opening set of the match was won by the Greeks at a significant margin as the French were seen to be struggling with their game.  However, France rebounded in the second set and earned a win after smothering the Greeks. With the match equalised, the
third set saw good performance from both the teams but the French were able to come out strong in the end.
The fourth set of the match was the most competitive as the Greeks put in a lot of energy to make a win but the effort came in too late and the French were able to win the match at the following final set scores:  19-25, 25-14, 25-20 and 26-24.
The coach of the Greek team, Ioakeim Dimitriadis, shared his views at the end of the press conference in the following words: “First of all we want to say congratulations to the French team. We could not win because they were very effective. We had a great
first set. The true is that when they attacked, we did not have a good block. We have to be prepared to do better in our next match. The first round was complicated but now is more difficult.”
On the other hand, the French coach Jean-Manuel Leprovost expressed himself at the press conference after the match in these words: "Congratulations to Greece because they did a lot of effort for win the match. We played better from the second set on. We
are not used to play in this court."
The early stages of the opening set brought the lead to Greece at 8-6 which they were able to extend till 16-9. The attack of the Greeks kept the French on their toes who could not secure the lead at any point in the first set. Therefore, Greece won the
frame at 25-19.
The loss of the opening set got the French performing well in the second set and they were leading at 8-2 that increased to 16-5. After that, it was only a matter of time before the French bagged the game at 25-14.
The Greeks could not hold their game together in the third set either and let a 16-12 lead put of their hands only to lose the set to the French by 20-25.
The French led the first set at 8-4 but the Greeks got the game interesting by putting up a good show. However, they still lost to the French at 26-24.
Even though the Greeks lost the match, their player Menelaos Kokkinakis was able to post the highest number of points among both the sides by registering 17 of them while the French top score was 13, achieved by Jhon Wendt and Thibault Rossard.
