France's Florent Malouda targets win over England
France attacker Florent Malouda says that he is keen to beat England when the sides square off in a friendly on Wednesday 17 November.
The Chelsea winger revealed that he is desperate to make amends for his country's woeful showing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and has targeted the match against the Three Lions as the perfect opportunity to
do so.
He told Association Press that: "There are lots of games coming up in the Premier League but when you play England at Wembley, it is a big moment. A good performance and good result will be good for our confidence
and provide a reference point to show exactly where we are as a team.
"We are on the way up and it is a moment for the youngsters in the team to create a bit of history, but let's not put too much pressure on them by expecting too much too soon.
"The idea is to move up the FIFA rankings and, playing and doing well against the likes of England and Brazil (in February), is a good chance to do that."
Since their dismal showing in South Africa, where they failed to win any of their three group stage games and dropped out of the competition before the knockout stages, the France national team camp has been
undergoing a drastic overhaul under new coach Laurent Blanc, who replaced Raymond Domenech.
Their results at the World Cup, as well as a defeat to Belarus in their first UEFA 2012 European Football Championship qualifying match led to them dropping to 27th in the FIFA world rankings, their lowest
ever position. However, they have since performed well to pick up wins over Bosnia, Romania and Luxembourg to rise to the top of their qualifying group, as well as moving back up to 18th in the FIFA rankings.
