France’s Morgan Parra ready to meet Dan Carter in Rugby World Cup - Rugby News
Morgan Parra, who has been given the toughest role of his career at the number 10 position against the All Blacks on September 24, is geared up battle against veteran Dan Carter. France is taking on All Blacks in its third match of the Rugby World Cup 2011
in Auckland and Morgan Parra will have to face Dan Carter on the number 10 position come match day. Talking to reporters on September 20, Parra declared the contest as the biggest challenge of his rugby life.
Dan Carter is considered one of the best players in the world for his particular position and Parra will be required to put in special efforts to combat his opponent. Furthermore, Parra does not have a lot of experience under his belt playing at the number
10 slot, which could put extra pressure on the youngster.
Morgan Parra normally plays at the Scrum half position for France since he made his debut with his national side in 2008. He has participated in 19 International games for his team and remained exceptionally impressive at Scrum-half’s postion. He has scored
111 points in his short career for his team and thus managed to possess the extremely important position at such an early stage of his age.
The 22-year-old Parra, who has got remarkable speed, told the media that he will enjoy the battle against Carter. Parra added that, “This is one of the biggest (tests of my career), It's a big challenge.'(Carter is) the best in the world. I will try and
match him, try and stand up to him.”
Meanwhile, talking about his lack of exposure as a number 10, he said that he is never worried about such things. He argued that, “I know today that the 15 minutes against Japan and the 20 minutes against Canada won't be enough. It will be something quite
different against the All Blacks. I can't rely on my performances against Canada and Japan that it will be another level altogether.”
The youth has a total of 35 minutes of playing time at the number 10 position before he was given his tough new job. Hopefully the gamble will pay-off for the French side come game day.
