Francesc Fabregas says that he'll be ready for Chelsea clash
Arsenal talisman Francesc Fabregas has handed his side a boost by insisting that he will be ready for the crucial English Premier League clash against defending champions Chelsea.
The Gunners captain was taken off early in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland when he picked up a hamstring injury after scoring the opening goal. He had initially been set to miss the match at Stamford Bridge on October 3 and, while the 2010 FIFA World Cup
winner will likely miss the game against West Bromwich Albion this Saturday, he is bidding to be ready to line up against the league leaders the following weekend.
Fabregas told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope that, "The injury is not as bad as we first thought. There is no muscle rupture and I will be back perfect in about 10 to 11 days. I am working with an osteopath in Paris and just working day-to-day. I think
I will make the Chelsea game."
It remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old can be fit in time to play any part in the UEFA Champions League group stage match away to Partisan Belgrade next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, despite claims that the midfielder had rejected the notion that he would ever sign for La Liga giants Real Madrid, he has said that a rejection will not necessarily be the case.
Newspaper reports have linked Fabregas with a potential move to the Bernebau next summer. Several pundits had dismissed the idea, suggesting that the player’s well-known affection for Barcelona meant that he would only consider a move out of Arsenal if it
was to the Camp Nou.
However, Fabregas said that, “I have never said that I did not want to play for Real Madrid. For me, they are a big club and I always consider other objectives."
