Francesco Bruni ready to face next challenge in World Match Racing Tour: 2011 St. Moritz Match Race
Italy’s Francesco Bruni of Bruni Racing is having a time-out now as he prepares for his next challenge in the World Match Racing Tour. Bruni is looking forward to keep his lead alive after clinching
the sixth race of the tour, 2011 St. Moritz Match Race. St. Moritz Match Race 2011 will be under way August 30 to September 4 at Engadine in Switzerland.
Bruni is one of the favourites to win the race and he is currently leading the standings with 81 points after five races of World Match Racing Tour. He believes that having a break before he goes
into the Engadine waters will be really beneficial for him and he will be able to retain his lead.
Speaking to the local media, Bruni said, “We are going to take have a holiday in August because it’s been a very busy season so far and I want us to head into St Moritz with some fresh energy. I think
in Sweden we were a little bit tired – we didn’t have a good event there and we need to recover from that. We’ve done too much sailing so far and we need a little bit of a break.”
Bruni’s title run will be challenged by two other favourites in the race who are currently on second and third place, Australia’s Peter Gilmour and Great Britain’s Ian Williams. Bruni does know about
their potential of sailing even under harsh wind conditions and he will definitely look forward to buckle up and cope with the challenge.
Bruni went on to talk about Williams and Gilmour, “Ian is a big potential problem for us because he’s sailing very well and he has a lot of experience. I think this year the guys that are doing the
best are the guys with experience like Ian Williams and Peter Gilmour. It’s very hard to say who is going to lead after the next event.”
