Francesco Dell’Uomo claims Men’s 10m Platform dive-off gold: Day seven – 18th FINA Diving World Cup
Italian specialist, Francesco Dell’Uomo stunned the crowd by claiming victory in the Men’s 10m Platform dive-off on the final day of the 18th Federation Internationale Federation de Natation Amateur (FINA) Visa Diving World Cup at the Aquatics
Centre, Olympic Park in London on Sunday, February 26.
The Diving World Cup was of high importance as it precedes the 2012 London Olympic Games and provided a chance to all elite divers to warm up before the upcoming battle royal.
The Italian diver confronted strong battle from Jeinkler Aguirre of Cuba, but succeeded in embracing victory by a marginal lead of almost two points.
Dell’Uomo ensured his top finish on the medal rostrum for gold medal by accumulating a total of 445.95 points. With his scintillating form, he remained just 2.45 points ahead of Aguirre, who settled on the victory stand for silver medal by accomplishing
a score of 443.50 points.
In the meantime, the crowd witnessed stupendous efforts of Ukraine’s Anton Zakharov, who suffered a deficit of almost six points and settled on the podium for third position by gaining a score of 437.70 points.
The fourth position of the event was earned by Andrea Chiarbini of Italy, who remained almost 18 points behind the bronze medallist and clinched a score of 419.75 points. He was trailed by Jiho Park of Korea, who stayed 4.40 points away from his former finisher
and ended fifth in the event with a score of 415.35 points.
The sixth finest spot of the event was obtained by Timofei Hordeichik of Bulgaria, who was 8.10 points away from Park and achieved a score of 407.25 points.
Eric Sehn of Canada proved his eligibility for the seventh best spot of the event as he accomplished a total of 396.25 points. He was followed by Amund Gismervick of Norway, who seized eighth best spot of the event with an effort of 387.60 points.
The crowd acknowledged ruthless efforts of all contestants whereas the position holders collected medals for their unmatchable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all scheduled
events.
