The Bianconeri manager hails his team’s performance against Edy Reja’s side; remains coy over UEFA Champions League qualification

Udinese manager, Francesco Guidolin, has explained the panic that struck on the touchline against Lazio.
The Bianconeri defeated Lazio 2-0 in matchday 35 game of the season at Stadio Friuli Udine on Sunday, April 29. However, the second Udinese goal scored by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-Pereyra-c31356 came amid huge controversy, as someone from the crowd blew
three whistles 13 seconds before the end of play. Resultantly, all the players stopped, and Pereyra went onto strike in the empty net.
Lazio players and managers protested on the touchline but the referee awarded the goal to Zebrette.
Guidolin rubbished talks of controversy, and insisted that it will not undermine his team’s superb performances on the evening. He insisted that the Udinese players clearly heard the whistle coming from the crowd, and they continued
to play.
The manager insisted that his team deserved to win the game, as they dominated throughout the course of the match.
While talking to Sky Sport Italia, Guidolin remarked:
“I can only explain what I experienced, though I would much prefer to talk about the splendid performance from my team. I did not hear the whistle, as I was shouting at one of my players, but many members of my squad said they
heard it coming from the crowd.”
“Then that chaos happened and it was a terrible shame to see that. Lazio lads were asking me to say I heard the whistle and they wanted the game to resume from a toss-up. In any case, we deserved the victory considering all that
we did during the game.”
The result puts the Bianconeri in the 4th position in the points table, equal on points with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. The battle for the final Champions League spot is expected to go down to the final whistle of
the season, and Guidolin is not giving it to complacency.
The Zebrette have relatively easier matches left to play in the final games of the season, as they will take on Cesena, Genoa and Catania in their remaining matches.
