The Rossazzurri midfielder reveals that he was expecting to be included in the final selection for Euro 2012 by Italy manager; insists he will work even harder to make his place in the team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francesco-Lodi-c13924 has expressed his disappointment after being left out of Italy’s final selection for the upcoming Euro 2012, and revealed that he thought that his chances of inclusion were bright.
The Catania midfielder was expected to make his space in Cesare Prandelli’s squad for the European tournament, but was snubbed by the tactician in favour of the 19-year-old Pescara midfielder Marco Verratti.
Lodi admitted that he has been left disappointed by the Italy manager’s decision to keep him out of the Euros, and insisted that he believed that he had done enough to deserve a place in the team.

However, he stated that his season with the Elefanti although promising was apparently not good enough.
While talking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the 28-year-old said:
“I will admit I was disappointed, as I thought I had done well enough to make it. To be perfectly honest, I also gave myself a simple explanation for this: I had a good season with Catania, but it wasn’t enough.”
The Elefanti-man made 39 league appearances for his side this season, scoring ten goals.
Lodi insisted that wearing the Azzurri jersey will be a great honour for him, and stated that the rejection has only filled him with even more motivation to work hard, and earn the recognition from Cesare Prandelli.
The Elephants midfielder stated that he will work towards becoming a more formidable asset for Italy squad.
“At least that provides me with extra motivation to do even better next term and make Cesare Prandelli’s decisions a little more difficult. Wearing the Azzurri jersey would be a great honour for me.”
When asked about his plans for the future, Lodi stressed that he wants to continue playing in Sicily. The Rossazzurri playmaker stated that his contract with the club lasts until 2015, and he intends to respect it as he has bonded well with Catania and the
city.
