Francesco Molinari hopes to maintain the winning streak of Europe
Francesco Molinari has vowed that he would try to hit his peak form before the Ryder Cup so that he can play a positive part in the Ryder Cup success for Europe. The Italian has said that he will help Europe continue its winning streak in the Ryder Cup.
Europe has won last four of the five Ryder Cups. They won the Cup in a very dramatic fashion in Wales where Graeme McDowell steered them to victory.
Molinari hopes to follow the footsteps of his fellow Ryder Cup team mates, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Paul Lawrie and Peter Hanson.
All of them have had victories in the past few weeks, especially Rory McIlroy, who has been in the form of his life since winning the PGA Championship. McIlroy has had three victories in four starts in the past month.
The Italian is competing in his home championship, BMW Italian Open. Molinari has said that he would like to win here, to keep a winning momentum going in the Ryder Cup.
Molinari is grouped with Martin Kaymer and Nicolas Colsaerts for the first two rounds. It is in the benefit of the three that they are playing together since they will be alongside each other in Illinois as well. This would be a good practise for the trio
before the final showdown.
“Obviously with the Ryder Cup in two weeks everything is getting very exciting,' the 2006 winner said. 'I hope it's going to be good preparation for Chicago. It's great to see so many players in the team on good form”.
The Italian was full of praise for Rory McIlroy.
'Rory has been amazing and it's really good for the team spirit. The Americans had a really good early season and summer, so it's important to show everyone that the Europeans are ready.'
Molinari does not reside in Turin anymore. He has moved to Italy and his reunion with family and friends will bolster his morale as well, ahead of the Italian Open and Ryder Cup.
Martin Kaymer has not been in the best of forms lately and this is his best chance to hit his stride for the Ryder Cup.
