Franchise cricket helped http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 – Cricket News Update
Discarded England batsman, Kevin Pietersen, is all praise for Luke Wright, who played a tremendous innings against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012, and credited franchise cricket for the batsman’s success.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) never encourages its players to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL) or other domestic tournaments around the world. However, Pietersen has been a great advocate of IPL, which is one of the reasons behind his
on-going dispute with the English authorities.
After a slow start against Afghanistan in their opening fixture of the tournament, England posted a mammoth total of 196 runs on the board, thanks to an unbeaten 55-ball 99 by Wright, who smashed eight fours and half a dozen hits out of the park.
Wright expressed after the match that he has learnt a lot by playing T20 cricket all around the world and Pietersen agrees.
Ironically, Wright has replaced Pietersen at number three in the batting order, which in the latter’s opinion is one of the most crucial batting positions.
"I totally agree with his sentiments, saying he's become a much better player because he's played 'Big Bash' and IPL when he's been out of the team," said Pietersen. "Batting at three gives you more opportunity but it also adds extra pressure. He's come
in and done a terrific job."
Since making his way to the global arena in 2007, Wright has represented England in 46 One Day Internationals and 33 T20s; however, he has so far failed to cement his place in the side. The on-going tournament gives a massive opportunity to the hard-hitting
batsman to make an impression in international cricket.
Despite being a staunch supporter of the IPL, Pietersen feels that England will have an advantage in the World T20 because their bowlers, not having played the cash-rich league in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, remain a mystery for most batsmen.
"One good thing that helped us win the T20 last time was that our bowlers hadn't been seen that much. A lot of the guys don't play IPL for various reasons. So when they come into a tournament like this, the guys can't line them up," expressed Pietersen.
