Franchises reveal preliminary lists for Indian Premier League 6 – Cricket News Update - Part 1
All Indian Premier League franchises have revealed their preliminary squads ahead of the trading window which opens on November 19. Given the economic downfall, all teams have cut on their spending spree, releasing a total of 94 players to make room for others when the auction begins.
Each franchise will need to fill their squads in the allotted salary cap, which is $12.5 million, and can spend that money on a maximum of 33 players, of which 11 can be overseas. Also the teams have the first right to sign those players, whom they bought on short-term basis in IPL 2012.
The list released yesterday saw many franchises doing away with most of their second string foreign players, along with those Indians who salaries were believed to be extravagant.
