Girondins de Bordeaux appeared to be a shaky side as they were held to a goalless draw by AS-Saint Etienne at the Stade Chaban Delmas. Les Girondins were dominated during much of the game, as they struggled to create solid chances
The Ligue 1 fixture between FC Girondins de Bordeaux and AS Saint-Etienne finished in a stalemate, as both sides failed to score. Les Girondins’ coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot, feels that his side were overpowered by Les Verts, who had been dominant through most
of the game. The Frenchman wants the Ligue 1 side to win its remaining games before the winter break.
Both sides wanted to avoid a defeat while coming in to the game, as they displayed some resolute defending. Bordeaux hardly managed to create any solid chances; however, they found themselves lucky enough to manage a draw. The coach was left frustrated after
the draw and gave a strong opinion in the post-match press conference.
"We were knackered and we didn't know what we wanted to do. The pitch was difficult and we were up against a good side who controlled the game well. If they didn't have many chances, well we had even fewer.”
Gillot was unhappy with the performance of his players, as he found the game to be an awful display of football. The former footballer highlighted the French outfit’s inability to seriously threaten the opposition’s defence. The Frenchman said:
“It was an awful 0-0, it has to be said.”
The former Sochaux coach believes that the Bordeaux-based club have left themselves a hard task following the stalemate against AS Saint-Etienne. The coach went on to explain that the side needs to perform better in their upcoming two fixtures and aim maximum
points, before the winter break. The 52 year-old described the situation:
“Marseille are five points above us in third and we need to take at least four points from our last two matches before the winter break, otherwise we'll be too far behind.”
Bordeaux is set to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AS-Nancy-c38468 Lorraine, followed by a home game against Troyes AC at the Stade Chaban Delmas. Gillot’s side have not been able to secure a victory in their previous four Ligue 1 fixtures, finding themselves desperate to win now.
