The Bordeaux coach is a happy person after his side narrowly avoided a humiliating defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Red-Star-c40350 Belgrade last night, to seal a place in the group stages of Europa League
Les Girondins needed a penalty from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Yoan-Gouffran-c37412 in the dying stages of the game to crawl through to the next round of the European second-tier club competition.
And the coach is more than pleased with the way his players performed in a game of such magnitude.
While talking to reporters, the 52-year-old stated that the match against Red Star Belgrade was a tough one, and it was frustrating to be behind. Bordeaux were the better side of the two and the Ligue 1 outfit deserved to win.
“This match had so much it is hard to tell the tale. We were frustrated at half time because we didn't deserve to be behind,” the coach told reporters after the game against the Serbian club.
Gillot praised the visiting side and stated that they made life difficult for his side. After seeing his team reduced to ten men, the Frenchman thought it was all over for FCGB. However, the players showed great commitment and courage to nick a win out of
nothing, and that is a pleasing factor for the coach.
“They played our guts out and equalised, then we had a man sent off, went two up, then they equalised and I thought it was lost.”
The former Lens player, who took the reins of the French club in 2011, is pleased with his side qualifying for the Europa League and has congratulated his players. Praising the club supporters, the coach stated that they are huge source of motivation for
the team and they played a big part in Les Girondins’ victory last night.
“These are good moments to experience; the players really showed their heart out there, they wanted to qualify. So congratulations to everyone. We are happy because the fans are happy now we have a whiff of Europe we will fight to get out of the group."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot added that Bordeaux have shown the world what they are capable of, and they will be a force to reckon in the Europa League this season.
