Girondins de Bordeaux suffered a rare home defeat in the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign after they were undone by an impressive Paris Saint-Germain side
Bordeaux’s impressive home record counted for nothing as they were humbled by the cash-laden club from Paris, thanks to yet another goal from Paris’ goal machine, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Les Parisiens need to earn maximum three points on the road in order to snatch back the top spot from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 after the Rhone giants’ draw in the league earlier. And the Paris giants did that but not without some toil.
Les Girondins played really well on the pitch but it just wasn’t their day and the boss is remaining upbeat despite the defeat, their first at Stade Chaban Delmas. While talking to reporters, the 52-year-old stated that he always had the belief that his
side can get something out of the match and he didn’t lose hope until the final whistle. The boss feels that the defeat is harsh on his side and draw would have been a fair result.
"I have a bizarre feeling. We leave with the impression that we could have taken something from the game. We didn't deserve to lose or win. A draw would have been about right.”
Praising the only goal scorer of the match, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Frenchman said that the Swede made all the difference on the pitch and if Bordeaux had a player of his calibre, things would have been different.
“If we had Ibra (http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029), we would have won 1-0. We didn't make many mistakes, but you only need to make one against them.”
Gillot added that football is a funny game and results like this are a part of this game. However, the boss is remaining optimistic despite the defeat and has urged his players to stay positive and concentrate on the upcoming matches.
“You need to remain focused at all times. Like in many matches, we put crosses in, but we lacked a physical presence in the box. We don't have many big lads in our team. This result is a blow, but our campaign will not be decided by our results against Paris.”
