Girondins de Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot has revealed that Les Girondins will have to spend in the 2012 winter transfer window in order to increase their chances in the 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championelle.
Fourteenth in the Ligue 1 standings, just short of the red zone Les marine et blanc are in deep crisis as they have only won one game and conceded defeat four times in nine games of Ligue 1. Following a financially complicated period in summer, Bordeaux
were able to make just three signings in the 2011 summer transfer window.
Francis Gillot believes that the unfavourable elements leading to their poor performance can be resolved by recruiting quality players in the winter transfer window. In an interview to a local radio station RMC, the former Sochaux coach said that the Gironde
based club would be active in the winter market. “We did not know how to make the players in June. There were a lot of departures. We signed the free players.”
The French tactician said that the there are a lot of openings in the Bordeaux side and with the African Cup of Nations taking place, he will lose the services of Cheick Diabate(Mali), Abdoulaye Traore(http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Senegal-c3001).
The 51-year-old further added, “Our recruiters are on the ground to attract rare birds for all positions. We are going to acquire players, but we will take them according the prices. It is necessary to restore the dynamics and to add value to the team.”
Les Girondins could have anticipated the departure of the nine players in the 2011 summer transfer window in order to avoid the current crises. If president Jean-Louis Triaud justifies the actions by blaming the financial situation of Bordeaux, the 2009
champions of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 did not generate much revenue from the nine transfers at the end of the summer window in order to spend it lavishly in the 2012 winter transfer window.
Francis Gillot will be looking forward for the 2012 winter transfer window to commence in order to reinforce the forward as well as the back line at Stade Chaban Delmas. After a devastating start, Girondins de Bordeaux will be looking to bounce back in the
2011/12 Ligue 1 Championelle.
