Francisco Liriano agrees to a two year deal with Pittsburgh Pirates – MLB Update
Starting pitcher Francisco Liriano has agreed with Pittsburgh Pirates to a two year deal. After playing wonderfully in the last Major League Baseball season with White Sox, he as free agent signed a deal with the Pirates.
Last season representing the White Sox, he finished with great numbers of 5.34 ERA along with 6-12 win loss, 167 strikeouts and 1.47 WHIP. He is a talented player and also possesses also great career numbers of 4.40 ERA along with 53-54 win loss, 846 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP.
Many believe that Liriano’s new potential beginning with Pirates certainly will bring more stability for Pittsburgh baseball franchise. Along with Liriano, the Pirates have also recently added two talented players.
Just couple of days ago, first basemen Garrett Jones and Gaby Sanchez agreed to one-year contracts with the Pittsburgh Pirates while Jeff Karstens has also signed a new deal with the Pirates.
All these players are certainly talented players and know their responsibility regarding their active roles in the team. Karstens did well in the last Major League Baseball season and showed consistent results throughout the season.
He did well on the mound and received 3.97 ERA along with 5-4 win loss, 66 strikeouts and 1.15 WHIP. Not only just in the last Major League event, but Karstens had played brilliantly in his so far six-year career and achieved 4.44 ERA along with 26-40 win-loss, 330 strikeouts and 1.33 WHIP.
First baseman Garrett Jones also is a great addition for the Pirates. He was also exceptional in the last Major League outing and did well with the bat. He showed consistent results and finished with .274 hitting average along 27 home runs, 86 RBIs and .317 OBP.
Jones also possesses good career numbers of .259 hitting average along with 87 home runs, 279 RBIs and .321 OBP. Gaby Sanchez will also stay with the Pirates for another season. His previous season’s performance was the key to make the Pirates believe that they should sign Sanchez for another season. Sanchez achieved consistent numbers of .217 hitting average along with seven home runs, 30 strikeouts and .279 OBP.
