Francisco Mancebo and Janel Holcomb wins Joe Martin opening time trail – Cycling news
Francisco Mancebo of the RealCyclists Team has won the Joe Martin stage race Nature Valley 2011 in Fayetteville.
Francisco Mancebo covered the distance of 2.5 kilometres time trail in 8 minutes and 7 seconds.
In the closing kilometres of the race, the RealCyclists team kept the race under control and crossed the finish line without any difficulty.
The Bissell Pro Cycling team showed good performance in the stage. Ben Jacques-Maynes of the team came second with a difference of 3 seconds.
Jeremy Vennell put in an excellent performance in the stage and grabbed the third spot 5 seconds behind his teammate Ben Jacques. Paul Mach who also belongs to the Bissell team was in fourth place 6 seconds behind.
Recently, Mancebo attained the first position in stage one and five as well and won Mountain Classification in the Tour of the Gila. He also won second and third stage of Sea Otter Classic race.
In the women’s category, Janel Holcomb of the Colavita Forno D’Asolo team won the first stage of the Joe Martin stage race in Fayetteville.
Janel Holcomb took a total of 9 minutes and 41 seconds to cover the distance of 2.5 kilometres. Kathryn Donovan of the Empower Coaching team finished second with a difference of 9 seconds.
Megan Guarnier of the Tibco-To The Top team was in third place while Ruth Clemence finished fourth with a difference of 12 seconds.
Colavita Forno D'Asolo DS Rachel Heal said, “I was optimistic, I knew she would do well, she went out and pre-road the course and said she liked it.”
She further added, “We are going to give it a very good go to keep the lead, there is only three of them but they are strong and smart so we will do our best.”
Holcomb was very happy after winning the time trail recently she won stage three time trail in the Tour of Gila.
The next stage will start in Fayetteville and all the riders will cover the distance of 110 kilometres for victory.
