Francisco Mancebo claimed the first overall spot during the opening stage of the Tour de Beauce 2012
Francisco Mancebo of Team Competitive Cyclist Racing filled his bag with yet another victory during the Tour de Beauce 2012.
The cyclist crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 4 hours, 15 minutes and 1 second and restricted Ryan Roth of Team Spidertech P/b C10 at the second position.
Matthias Friedemann of Team Champion System Pro Cycling, Christian Meier of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada and Bruno Langlois of Team Garneau-Quebecor-Norton Rose occupied the next three positions.
While commenting on the stage victory, he briefed, "I wasn't very good (at the beginning of the stage) today, ten seconds is nothing for the GC".
Sebastien Salas of Team p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies fell one minute and 12 seconds short at the 54th position.
"I hit a hole and hit Rory's back wheel, it felt good to be up there with Rory and Mancebo,” Salas noted.
Gord Fraser of Team Competitive Cyclist shared his thoughts after the stage, "The important thing was that we were represented in the break so we didn't have to do the work, this is an interesting start to the race,” he cited.
David Williams of Team Competitive Cyclist and Flavio De Luna of Team Spidertech p/b C10 succeeded during the first and the second sprints of the event.
Ken Hanson of Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies wins both the mountains of the race with a total number of 17 UCI points to his credit.
Francisco Mancebo of Team Competitive Cyclist is now leading the stage 1 classifications with a healthy margin of 4 seconds over Ryan Roth of Team Spidertech p/b C10.
Matthias Friedemann of Team Champion System Pro Cycling is further 2 seconds behind at the third position.
Christian Meier of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada and Bruno Langlois of Team Garneau-Quebecor-Norton Rose claimed the fourth and the fifth spots.
Francisco Mancebo holds the top spot at the point’s classifications with a total number of 15 UCI points to his credit.
Ryan Roth of Team Spidertech p/b C10 is one point behind at the second spot with Matthias Friedemann, Christian Meier and Bruno Langlois achieving the next three points.
