Francisco Mancebo hopeful for the Tour of Utah 2012
Francisco Mancebo of Realcyclist.com Cycling Team is optimistic to build up on his terrific form at the Tour of Utah 2012.
The cyclist has numerous victories in his bag including overall wins at the Tucson Bicycle Classic, Joe Martin Stage Race, Tour of the Battenkill and the Cascade Cycling Classic.
He finished third overall at the Redlands Bicycle Classic, fourth at the Tour of Gila, seventh at the Tour de Beauce and bagged the ninth overall spot at the Rutas de America and the San Dimas Stage Race.
 The Spaniard also bagged numerous stages during the first half of the 2012 season and is determined to build up on his tremendous form at the coming event.
While commenting on the issue, Team Director Gord Fraser noted, "It's just a bike race".
"You know you hear that every once in a while and I kind of roll my eyes when I hear it”.
“But after what I saw today with Chad crashing and splitting his face open, it reminds you, with all due respect to the race and the Larry H. Miller Group, it is just a bike race”.
“We are here to put our stamp on the race, but at the same time it was a really good reminder of what's important".
"Tommy's a real scrappy rider, and he gives us a real speed element," he concluded.
The 36-year-old marked his professional debut with Team Banesto in 1998 and stayed with the team by the end of 2005 season.
He also represented Team AG2R Prevoyance (2006), Team Relax-GAM (2007), Team Fercase-Rota dos Moveis (2008), Team Rock Racing (2009), Team Heraklion Kastro-Murcia (2010) and joined Team Realcyclist.com Cycling Team.
He finished the 211 kilometre opening stage of the Tour of Utah at the 14th position with Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare securing the top position.
Damiano Caruso of Team Liquigas-Cannondale, Brent Bookwalter, Lawson Craddock of Team Bontrager Livestrong and Leopold Koenig claiming the next four positions in the respective order.
Francisco is holding the 14th overall position after the stage 1 overall classifications and is determine to improve his performance during the coming stages of the Tour of Utah 2012.
