Francisco Valcarcel: We will identify the rounds where the judges did not agree – Boxing News
President of WBO Francisco Valcarcel has revealed that the WBO’s review of the controversial split result of Pacquiao vs. Bradley is coming to an end. According to him, by tomorrow the results will be revealed. However, he wants to make sure that each round
is compared with the scorecards accurately without any faults.
In his recent interview, Francisco revealed, “We are taking the scorecards of our five international judges and comparing them to those of the judges of the fight. We're trying to find the most controversial rounds and see where they agree and disagree.
We will identify the rounds where the judges did not agree. I want to be sure which rounds were the close, controversial rounds, according to everybody. We're probably talking about two or three rounds."
He added that the panel will decide whether the rounds were scored the right way or not, and then the findings will be taken as recommendation for what to do next. Finally, he said that the much awaited will be out by tomorrow.
As mentioned before, Valcarcel clearly said that Bradley would not be stripped off the titles. He added that the organisation could only authorize a rematch and nothing else. However, it should be noted here that the contract Pacquiao signed with Bradley
already has a rematch clause. In other words, the inquiry itself will not make a difference but it will definitely ensure if Pacquiao had won the fight or not.
Bradley defeated Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas through a split decision. As soon as the decision was announced, the crowd booed for Bradley and the judges. The internet and social media websites were soon flooded with comments deeming
the decision. Even fighters like Amir Khan and Juan Manuel Marquez thought Pacquiao won the fight. Amir Khan called it a robbery for Pacquiao and challenged Bradley to the ring. On the other hand, former fighter Oscar de la Hoya commented that Bradley should
have given the title back to Pacquiao as soon as the decision was announced.
For most of the fans and spectators, it was a one-sided fight that Manny won.
