The Bayern Munich winger is elated after defeating Les Phoceens in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Franck Ribery has expressed his pleasure at beating Olympique Marseille at the Stade Velodrome in the first-leg of their UEFA Champions League last-eight tie. Mario Gomez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 scored goals for the winners as Bayern
were able to take an advantage of two away goals prior to the second-leg on April 3 at the Allianz-Arena.
The Frenchman applauded the way his team settled in Marseille in front of the capacity crowd at the Stade Velodrome. He admitted that the conditions were not in favour of the Munich giants but it was a brilliant performance.
Ribery stressed at the importance of two away goals and insisted that it will certainly give Bayern some breathing space prior to the return fixture next week. He hailed the way Gomez and Robben snatched the game from the hosts
despite their solid defensive work.
However, the France international reserved sympathy for Marseille keeper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Elinton-Andrade-c12297, who spilled Gomez’s shot in the 44th minute. He opined that if that goal had been stopped then Bayern could have felt the pressure
of playing out a goalless first-half in the next 45 minutes.
While talking to Sky Sport Germany, the 28-year-old attacker further added:
"This is a very good situation for us. The result is perfect, it is better than a goalless draw or a 1-0 victory. We played with a lot of discipline and we deserved to win. I think it was a hard blow for him and Marseille. He had
not played this season."
On the other hand, Ribery reiterated his desire of ending his career while playing at the Allianz Arena. He insisted that he cannot expect to prosper elsewhere especially having spent five years in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Ribery confirmed that
he is looking forward to extending his stay at the club which has certainly become his second home.
"It is always difficult for me to play in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899. But now I play for Bayern, who are a great family. I have been here for five years. I feel just fine, everything is perfect for me," Ribery concluded.
The Bavarian giants could meet Real Madrid in the semi-final of the Champions League after Los Blancos defeated APOEL Nicosia in their first-leg 3-0. The Reds will next be in action against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162 on Saturday, March 31.
