Franck Ribery reaffirms commitment to Bayern Munich and insists he is happy to stay
Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has insisted he does not want to leave the club despite being unsure about UEFA Champions League qualification next year. He said that he is happy with the Bavarians and will honour his contract with the club.
Bayern Munich are third in the Bundesliga standings with 51 points, 14 points adrift of league leaders Borussia Dortmund. Die Bayern have to stay in third place in order to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition next season but face tough competition from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 05.
The French international shrugged off speculation that he would leave the Munich giants in the summer. He also admitted that it was difficult as a player, when the team was not performing well at both the European as well as domestic stage, which has been the case for Bayern all season.
Ribery said that he was fully committed to Bayern in his first season, when they played in the UEFA Europa League and if that is the case again, he would love to take the club forward.
The former Marseille player told reporters, “It's very hard for a big player when you're not sure whether your team will qualify for the Champions League. I went through this before in my first season at Bayern. We played UEFA Cup football then and it wasn't much fun.”
The winger added that he has four more years on his current contract and he will surely honour it. Ribery said that he is very happy with the German club and he intends to stay and fight for the title next season.
The former Galatasaray player concluded, “I've already decided for myself that I want to stay. My contract with Bayern runs for four more years and I'm not even thinking about a transfer. I'm feeling very well at the club and I don't want to leave Bayern.”
Franck Ribery has scored seven goals and 17 assists for the Bavarians in a total of 22 appearances this season after missing the start of the campaign with a back injury.
