The former Olympique Marseille man admitted that there is a lot of pressure on his side. The disappointments last season coupled with the poor form against Borussia Dortmund in all competitions will mean that Bayern will start
as the second best team on the field.
Jurgen Klopp’s side has frustrated the Reds immensely in the last two years. The Black Yellows have won two consecutive league titles and have been the only team ahead of Bayern Munich on both occasions. The Borussians downed the
Bavarian giants in the DFB-Pokal final also last term to pile more misery on the side.
Ribery admitted that a win in the Supercup would give the team a huge boost in confidence for the upcoming season. The attacker is also targeting to do well in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.
“We can no longer afford to lose to them. We are completely under pressure. The Super Cup in a few weeks is our first real test and we have got to send out a signal and beat Dortmund. The Champions League remains our dream, but
for the whole club, it is important that we win the league,” the French international was quoted as saying in an interview.
A win in the DFL-Supercup is crucial for Bayern Munich as it would set the tone for the season ahead. Another loss at the hands of Dortmund would surely devastate the Reds.
