The Bayern Munich winger claimed that his side still has a tough test against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Bavarian giants downed Los Blancos in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Allianz Arena with a 2-1 scoreline. Ribery and Mario Gomez scored for the home side whereas Mesut Ozil scored a crucial away
goal for the visitors.
Ribery claimed that Bayern needed the win after the recent disappointments in the Bundesliga and the players proved that they are capable of winning against any team in Europe. He added that the Munich giants have proved what they
are capable of after the win against Jose Mourinho’s team.
The winger stated that the team will face a tough test in Madrid when they play at the Santiago Bernabeu next week. He warned his side against any complacency and admitted that it will not be a walk in the park for Bayern as Madrid
are a very strong side when playing at home.
“I think it was very important for our confidence to win the home game against Madrid. It was a lot of fun tonight, especially with the crowd behind us, but we're only halfway there. The game in Madrid is going to be very, very
tough,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Olympique Marseille player added that the Reds will not change their game for the second-leg and is confident that they will progress to the final of the competition. He admitted that Los Blancos will be under considerable
amount of pressure after the loss in the first-leg and will make mistakes.
“I don't think their goal will change much with regard to our tactics in the second leg. We'll stay compact, just like we did tonight. Madrid will need to attack us and that should give us the opportunity to counter,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich will take on Werder Bremen on Saturday, April 21, before their away fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, April 25. The German side will be looking to capitalise on the result in the first encounter to progress
to the final which will be played at the Allianz Arena next month.
