The Bayern Munich winger has warned his side against Marseille’s aggression ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final.
Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery has revealed that Olympique Marseille could pose a serious threat to his side’s chances of progressing further in the Champions League. He was talking ahead of first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final
clash at the Stade Velodrome on Wednesday, March 28.
Ribery admitted that it would be a different experience for him to play against his former employers since leaving them in 2007. He stated that Les Phoceens are a dangerous side at home and Bayern would need to respect their opponents.
The Frenchman mentioned that the Reds must be focussed to get an important away goal into the second-leg at the Allianz Arena on April 3.
While talking during the pre-match press conference, Ribery further added:
"It feels weird for me, I played here for two years and had many good experiences with the club and the fans. They are all football-crazy here. It will be a very difficult game, they want to beat us. Marseille are a very aggressive
team. We need to focus going into the game. But that is not easy in this stadium and with these football-crazy fans."
On the other hand, Bayern skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Philipp-Lahm-c29929 also expressed his desire of winning the game against the French side. He stressed on the importance of making use of the opportunities available and urged his teammates to maintain
their current form to record a sixth successive win in all competitions.
"We must play as we have in recent games, very focused and all together. In the Champions League it is very important to seize our chances,"
Lahm concluded.
Bayern are in search of a possible treble this season and currently sit second in the league standings, five points behind the leaders Borussia Dortmund. The Munich giants have already qualified for the final of the German Cup
on May 12 where they will meet Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Jupp Heynckes’ men are regarded favourites to beat the Ligue 1 side in the first-leg considering their outstanding run in recent weeks. They will return to league action on Saturday, March 31, against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FC-Nuremberg-c38162.
