Francoise Abanda runs over Zarah Razafimahatratra Girls’ Singles 1stround – US Open 2011
On day 8 of the US Open the Girls’ Singles first round had begun and the two players that battled on show court 10 of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center were Canadian Francoise Abanda and  Zarah Razafimahatratra of
Madagascar. The Canuck won in straight sets of 6-3, 6-1 in only 57 minutes of play.
Standing at Junior ranking 41, the Malagasy contested in fifteen tournaments and was able to bag three titles; South / Central Junior Circuit South Africa, 2011, the other was when she defeated Nour Abbes in the final of International
Junior Championships of Botswana, 2011 and the last one was at the African Closed Junior Championships, 2011. This year she played a total of thirty seven matches and won twenty five.
On the other hand, Canadian Francoise Abanda had a better winning streak than her opponent as she was a finalist, semi-finalist and quarterfinalist at most of the tournaments she played in. This year she had won thirty one matches
and lost seven. Having contested in eleven tournaments she was able to bag three titles.
Subsequently after winning the toss, Abanda was first to open the score board at 1-0. In the following three games the players won on their serves at which the score board read as 2-2. In the fifth game Abanda was first to break
but the Malagasy was quick to break back in the sixth game.  During the seventh game the Canuck was able to hold her serve and by the eighth she was leading with 5-3 as she broke her adversary for the second and last time. If only Razafimahatratra had broken
her Canadian rival, the game could’ve gone either way, however, the Canuck was able to hold her serve and won the set in a quick 27 minutes.
During the second set both the players again tried very hard but eventually Abanda had pushed a little harder to bag the set at 6-1. Opening the first set was Razafimahatratra but unfortunately she was broken in the first game
but quickly regained her steps as she broke back in the second game. The Canuck again broke Razafimahatratra in the third game and took the lead as she held her serve in the fourth game.  By the fourth game she again broke her Malagasy rival to secure a lead
by holding her serve in the sixth game at 5-1. Abanda broke her opponent for the last time to completely crush her in the seventh game and clogged the set and the match in just another 30 minutes.
Although, Razafimahatratra tried her best, she was unable to meet or beat her opponents score and unfortunately lost the match. Abanda was able to secure a berth in the second round of the US Open 2011 Girls Singles.
