The Hamburg general manager is confident that Marcell Jansen and Tolgay Arslan will sign a new contract to extend their stay at the Imtech Arena.

Marcell Jansen, the former Germany international joined Hamburg from Bayern Munich in 2008 for a reported €8 million, and established himself as a first team regular at his new club. Marcell originally a Left wing back, was transformed
into a winger and prospered in that position as he chipped in with a few goals and assists.
His contract at Hamburg finishes in the summer of 2013, and there have been widespread concerns as the time ticks on.
The club’s young prospect Tolgay Arslan who has 12 months left on his contract, is also making the officials sweat.
Frank Arnesen, however played down suggestions that the players will not sign contract extensions, he reassured everyone that contract extensions are in place.
"In terms of Marcell Jansen and Tolgay Arslan, I am optimistic. I think we will swiftly agree new contracts," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
The Hamburg manager Thorsten Fink heaped praise on Jansen, who he believes has been in tremendous form since he joined the club. He also cited the change in position as the main reason why the former Bayern Munich man has been
in tremendous form.
"He has scored goals and he has assisted goals. If Marcell continues like this, we will be very happy in the next few years," he is quoted as saying in an interview.
Hamburg’s general manager poured cold water on the speculation linking his club with a host of young players based in Europe.
“We are actually not looking for players aged 18, 19 or even 20 years,” Arnesen added.
In recent times the club has been performing poorly, and have failed to live up to their supporters’ expectation. Hamburg have also been accused of cashing on their star players, which has been the main reason for their recent
downfall.
