The Hamburg SV sporting director has admitted that it would be difficult for his side to afford the Dutchman.

Arnesen admitted that Hamburg are in the market to buy some players this summer but signing Van der Vaart from Tottenham would be a problem. He insisted that the player’s transfer fee and wage demands are certainly are two major
obstacles in the move.
Van der Vaart previously played for Rothosen from 2005 to 2008 and scored an impressive 29 times in 74 league appearances. The attacker then moved on to play for Real Madrid and is currently plying his trade in London with Tottenham
Hotspur.
There had been talk that the player wants to reunite with his previous employers but the move looks highly unlikely as the German side are not contesting in Europe next season.
Arnesen believes that the club does not have the financial capability to sign the midfielder for the price quoted and admitted that the side would need help from investors to make sure the deal goes through.
“We might be able to sign one or two more players from our own funds, but signing Van der Vaart is impossible. We would need a lot of help [from external investors] to make that happen,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the sporting director played down media claims that Hamburg are showing interest in signing former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zvjezdan-Misimovic-c38152 from Dynamo Moscow. He stated that there has been no contact with the
Russian side and that Hamburg are not interested in acquiring the player.
“Misimovic is not a candidate to join us. We have not been in contact with his club either,” he concluded.
Rafael Van der Vaart still has two years left on his contract with Tottenham Hotspur and there is a chance that the player may stay for another season in London.
