Frank Dancevic ousts Rhyne Williams in the opening qualies – Brisbane International 2013
Ranked 165th in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Rankings, Frank Dancevic, gave a straight-set defeat to the American challenger, Rhyne Williams, in the initial qualifying round of the Brisbane
International. He nudged up with a 6-4, 6-0 score line and consolidated his triumph in approximately one hour and 10 minutes.
The Canadian challenger commenced the match on a very decent note and both the contenders held their serves for the major amount of time. The score line levelled down after every alternate game, displaying a tough battle between
the two contestants. In the last game, Dancevic, cashed on his rival’s lone serve and penned down 6-4 score line.
In the second set, the 21-year-old American completely lost his serve precision and was utterly dormant. The Canadian professional took advantage of the opportunity and broke his contenders serve in the second game. After that
point, Williams was completely powerless, as he could not put forth a strong fight. The Canadian right-hander concluded his ultimate victory with a bagel.
The 21-year-old attained 63 percent initial serve precision with four aces. He pocketed away 21 of 36 first and eight of 21 second serve points. On the other hand, Dancevic posted away 53 percent first serve accuracy with seven
aces and 24 of 28 points.
The 28-year-old Canadian qualifier has a decent tennis career in the previous year and he made it until the final round of the Dallas Challenger held at the hard courts of America against the Russian contender, Igor Andreev. At
the Tallahassee Challenger, he withdrew from the final round after the very first set against the local challenger, Tim Smyczek. He suffered a straight-set defeat in the first round of the Rogers Cup held at the hard courts of Toronto.
The American junior participated in several local ATP Challenger Tour events and made it to the final rounds of most of the tournaments. Williams was the finalist at the USA F4 and faced an unexpected loss at the hands of the Aussie
challenger, Jason Murray Kubler. He displayed a remarkable performance at the Rome Challenger. He maintains a decent record in most of the tournaments but he surely needs to pick momentum in order to launch a successful campaign in 2013.
