Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard revealed he was always willing to play for both club and country as he made a return to the Blues’ starting line-up for the trip to Valencia. Despite being a crucial player in the team, Lampard started the last three games in all competitions on the bench for the London side. side and that he always wanted to play.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters:
“I always want to play, that's a given. I've been like that throughout my career.
I love playing for this club. I am very proud of playing here.”
The English midfielder admitted he had previously picked up injuries, but they had never stopped him from working hard to return to full fitness and fight for a place in the first-team. Even though Lampard felt disappointed at giving up the lead towards
the end of the game, he was satisfied with the result.
He revealed:
“Qualification games in the group stage can be slightly bland at times but this was more exciting.
You have to find a middle ground of protecting your lead and playing attractive stuff.
From our point of view it was a good performance although disappointing to lose that lead.”
Villas-Boas, who was accused of dropping Lampard out of the squad, revealed he felt Lampard along with the rest of the squad had been exceptional against the La Liga side. The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 and Lampard were especially impressive in the
Champions League clash.
Villas-Boas said in an interview:
“He played well - with the rest of the team. He was playing well before.”

He continued:
“It was a very good performance from the team.
I think it was more deserved for us to win this game.”
