The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 midfielder has backed Hodgson’s impact on the Three Lions’ approach to football and has admitted that it will take further time for the former West Bromwich manager to fully implement his methods with the English
national team stars...
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 has admitted that Hodgson has indeed has a positive impact on the England national team setup as the Three Lions have adopted more “on the ground” approach which is centred around
keeping possession of the ball rather than playing the old traditional long ball game.
Hodgson was appointed as the England national team coach earlier on in the year after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 as the national team
captain.
Harry Redknapp was the F.A’s first choice to replace Capello but as he was contracted to Tottenham, the England Football Association moved for Hodgson who immediately took up their offer. England played at the European Championships
over the summer and failed to go past the quarterfinal stage after qualifying from a tough group.
Hodgson’s men lost to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 and Ashley Young failed to convert their spot kicks. Lampard captained England in a recent friendly match against Italy and
this time around the English national team emerged victorious by two goals to one.
Lampard said, "He (Hodgson) had little time to prepare before the Euros which made it difficult for him to get his complete imprint on the team. Of course, you can't compare this game with Italy with the one in the summer because
tournament games are the ones you want to win.”
He added, "But the manager and his staff have made a big thing of trying to keep the ball more, trying to be positive with our football but keeping the ball, knocking it around and playing from midfield.” The Chelsea man also elaborated
that England were unlucky at the European Championships as the penalty shootouts have a large part of luck involved in the eventual outcome.
