Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard drew comparisons between the Blues’ new signing Juan Mata and Manchester City playmaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and has already proved his worth
to the London side.
Since his arrival, the Chelsea squad has undeniably been more creative and has been playing entertaining football. Lampard revealed the arrival of the 23-year-old winger had added a new dimension to the team and would definitely help them achieve their targets
this season.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters:
“He's definitely added a lovely dimension to our team.
We had a very good unit but it's great to have someone with his sort of jinky creative ability that can offer something else.”
Mata has made five appearances in all competitions so far and has already scored two goals and provided one assist. The winger has impressed in the Premier League with his incredible pace and his ability to be everywhere at once, making him a tough opponent
to mark.
It is for these reasons that he has deservedly earned a comparison to Silva, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder who also began his career with Valencia. If Mata is indeed like Silva, then the Blues can expect many more goals and assists as the season progresses,
with Silva having scored two and provided five assists in eight appearances already.
When Chelsea travelled to Valencia for their UEFA Champions League group stage, Mata had a chance to face his former side sooner than expected. The Blues came away with a point and the English midfielder pointed out the extraordinary reception Mata had received
from his former side, which showed just how much he was still valued by the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 outfit.
He continued:
“Juan's a little bit like Silva at Man City. He's got that similar quality and that is only going to improve us. He will get even better as well.
The reception he got at Valencia in midweek shows what high regard they hold him in - and shows the player that he was and the person that he is. He will be massive for us.”
Manchester United and Manchester City have had a better start to the season than the Blues, and are currently at the top of the Premier League table. However, Lampard was certain the Blues would be able to catch up, especially since this was just the start
of the new campaign. With contribution from the likes of Mata, the London side have a quality squad and should not be written off so soon.
Lampard said:
“Man United and Man City have flown out of the blocks in the Premier League but it is a very long season.”
