Frank Lampard set to make long-awaited return
English superstar, Frank Lampard is ready to join the action again and will try to rescue Chelsea in a big clash against Tottenham on Sunday.
Lampard has been out of the game for the last three months after suffering from a chronic groin issue. Lampard in his injury duration has seen his team’s suicidal performance. Considering that Chelsea has managed only 2 wins in their last 8 matches in all
competitions, his return can lift their spirits.
Chelsea captain John Terry said, “Lampard has been out for a couple of months and we are looking forward to getting him back. That would be a big boost for us”.
However, Ancelotti will take no chance if Lampard is not 100 percent fit. The manager will wait till Sunday and reassess the situation, and decide if the midfielder is ready to play against old rivals and White Hart Lane.
On the other hand, Ancelloti does not have any other option, but to hope and make Lampard play. Noodling up the situation adversely is the fact that soon after this big clash, Chelsea is due to play Manchester United and Arsenal.
Things are gloomy for Chelsea after some out of form key players, and several important players got injured. With all the injured players, Chelsea has missed Lampard the most, and would certainly be hoping for his quick comeback.
Star act Lampard, has been the heartbeat of Chelsea for a number of seasons. In his 9 year career with Chelsea he has played 323 matches and scored 106 goals.
His expertise with dead ball free kicks and corners are special. His linkage with Drogba while attacking has proved wonders for Chelsea over the years. His return will add a lot to the team, and will definitely be a positive sign for blues.
With the news of Lampard’s return, Ashley Cole is also set to play against Tottenham. Cole commented on Lampard’s return and said "It would be nice to have Frank back, a boost".
Only time will tell if Chelsea’s wonder lad plays against Tottenham on Sunday. The manager might feel he is not fit enough to take up the challenge. However, even with Lampard returning, Chelsea’s squad needs to lift up their game this December, so they
can seriously defy top teams like Arsenal and Manchester United.
