Frank Maloney reckons David Haye will become a legend if he beats Wladimir Klitschko – Boxing news
Promoter Frank Maloney reckons the current World Boxing Association’s world heavyweight champion David Haye will become a legend if he wins his bout against Wladimir Klitschko on July 2, 2011.
David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye will take on Wladimir ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ Klitschko in a highly anticipated unification bout for the heavyweight titles this Saturday at Hamburg’s Imtech Arena in Germany. Maloney believes if Haye wins, he will be compared with the
all time greats of the sport.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “If David does win he deserves to be up there with the greats like Lennox Lewis and Joe Calzaghe. I think his opponent will win but I hope I’m wrong.”
Maloney, who worked with the most recent undisputed world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, visited Haye’s camp. He told the media he was very impressed to see the way Haye was training, as he saw him in full confidence and complete physical fitness.
Maloney believes Haye has a great speed and confidence and can upset the 6 ft 6.5” Ukrainian giant Wladimir Klitschko who has successfully defended his world title 10 times in a row so far.
In the end, Maloney wished Haye and the British people all the best of luck and declared that this fight is going to be one of the hardest heavyweight bouts ever seen.
“I was very impressed with what I saw when I watched him train. He is prepared. There’s nothing wrong with his confidence which is a great asset. He is fast. If he wins he becomes a legend. If he doesn’t, he just becomes another world champion who failed
at the last hurdle,” said Maloney.
“It will be an explosive fight. I wish him luck for the sake of British boxing. It will be great for Bromley too since he’s local now,” added Maloney.
Let’s see if Haye wins the mega heavyweight showdown, which certainly will play a vital role in his career.
