Frank Maloney reckons Tyson Fury does not have a punch to worry world-class heavyweights
The boxing manager and promoter and UK Independence Party politician, Frank Maloney, who is famously known for managing the undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world, Lennox Lewis, is not impressed with Tyson Fury’s win over Dereck Chisora.
The 6 ft 9” Irish-English pugilist, Fury, recently secured a unanimous points victory over the Del Boy, Dereck Chisora, at the Wembley Arena in London on July 23, 2011 to claim the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles but still Maloney thinks Fury
does not have a punch to trouble a world class heavyweight boxer.
Maloney told the media he was watching Fury’s bout and said he is not impressed the way Fury lands a punch.
Though the promoter admitted Fury has a strong chin along with a big heart, he said he has not met a real heavyweight as of yet.
“I saw the fight and wasn’t too impressed,” analysed Frank. “I thought Fury’s performance was good but, for me, he doesn’t have a punch to worry world class heavyweights.”
“He [Tyson Fury] has a big heart and a very good chin but has not met many young ambitious heavyweights yet,” stated Frank.
John McDermott and David Price are both due for a potential bout later in 2011 and the winner will most probably get a chance for his domestic crown against Tyson Fury.
Maloney commented on the fight and claimed if Price wins the bout and sets up a clash with Fury, it is going to one of the biggest bouts in the recent British history.
Maloney stated, “Firstly, if Price beats Big John on November 5, then this is the fight all of the UK will want to see between two young, unbeaten heavyweights. It will be the biggest heavyweight fight since Lennox Lewis versus Gary Mason for the British
title way back in 1991.”
Tyson Fury and David Price bout can really be a classic one in the heavyweight division. However let’s see if Price is able to win against McDermott, as his bout with Fury is certainly going to pull a huge crowd.
