Manchester United’s goal keeper coach, Frank Mathiesen believes http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463.
Over the last couple of weeks, Lindegaard has been starting in goal for the Red Devils and based on the trend that United are following, it seems like Lindegaard might have taken over the number one spot at Old Trafford.
However, Mathiesen feels that United are yet to finalize on just who is going to be starting in goal for them, but has revealed that he thinks Lindegaard might just edge past De Gea in upcoming games.
Lindegaard has been training under Mathiesen for way longer than De Gea and the United goal keeper coach feels that the keeper is now more than competent to contest for the number one spot.
When talking about the two keepers at the club and just who might be considered to start upcoming games, Mathiesen is quoted to have said: “I think Anders can go on to establish himself as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper”
“Before this season the odds on that happening were not very good for Anders but the odds are a lot better now. Plus I do not think you have seen the best of Anders Lindegaard yet.”
"He is not the youngest of goalkeeper but he has still many years to go and he has not reached his top level yet. There is more to come from him.
“He will become more confident as he plays in these big matches so the future is looking good for him. History shows you that he adapts to the level he is going into and with his professionalism and strong mentality he could go on to do a lot better than he
is doing right now.”
United went on to sign De Gea in the summers, but so far the young Spaniard has failed to live up to his hype. On the other hand, Lindegaard has been impressive every time that he steps onto the pitch. AS it stands, Untied are more than likely to use Lindegaard
as their first choice keeper, while they look to develop De Gea to take over on the long run.
