Frank McCourt likely to make $1 billion selling Los Angeles Dodgers – MLB News
Former owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Frank McCourt will likely to make $1 billion in cash as he recently settled a deal with Hall of Famer basketball player Magic Johnson and his group selling the South Los Angeles Baseball franchise worth almost $2 billion.
A group led by former NBA star Johnson, who topped the bidding with highest base price, now enjoys the ownership of one of the toughest baseball teams in Major League Baseball. Experts believe, now it will be difficult for the Johnson and his group to take a step forward spending some more money on the reconstruction of the team.
Recently, Andrew Zimbalist, who is an economics professor at Smith College in New York, has told the media in brief telling how difficult it is now for the team to give slight joy to its fans, "There's a real challenge ahead for Dodger fans to be vigilant about, we'll have to wait and see what happens."
Looking at another perspective, the Dodgers sale has somewhat increased the winning possibilities for them. Though the Dodgers all players are feeling good, but they need full support from the new ownership to establish a well crafted beginning. While those who are saying that the new ownership needs to invest money to build the team for next season still have many areas to explain.
Magic Johnson, the new owner of the Dodgers’ franchise later commented on this investment demand suggestion explaining, “It's not just the Yankees. The Angels invested a lot of money into Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. You see what the Tigers just did with Prince Fielder. Teams are investing. That's what you do when you put a winning team on the field. We're not going to be any different from those teams."
In the meanwhile, the Dodgers’ require forgetting all other things and just remain their focus on the next competition to establish a good beginning in order to get consistent results. The new management also needs some time to put everything in place and then start focusing on new strategies that must ensure their next seasons’ results.
