Frank Rijkaard considering a future as manager with Liverpool
After speculation at Liverpool that Roy Hodgson could soon be on his way out, and the mounting speculation of who could be on their way in to replace him, the odds on favorite, Dutchman Frank Rijkaard, has said that a move to Anfield would seem attractive,
according to his agent.
Rijkaard's agent, Perry Overeem, spoke recently with Chilean newspaper
El Mecurio and suggested that Rijkaard would be in favor of a move to either England or Italy with Liverpool being one of the major contenders for his services.
"He wants to choose major European football teams in the Premier League or Calcio," Overeem said. "I think that is attractive to a coach who showed in Barcelona he has the ability to manage in the best leagues in the
world. He will surely be working in one or two months."
Rijkaard, the former Barcelona manager, who recently parted ways with the Turkish club Galatasary, has become the odds on favorite to take over at Anfield since the moment he left.
Overeem also took time to quell the speculation that Rijkaard was being lined up to take over as head coach of the Chilean national team.
"I have not received any call from Chile or from that side of the world. The story is nothing but a rumour."
After a successful playing career with some of Europe's biggest clubs, Rijkaard's managerial career has been filled with varying amounts of successes and failures.
Rijkaard has coached the Dutch national team, and was briefly in charge of Dutch side Sparta Rotterdam, before taking over at Barcelona where he achieved the Lion's share of his managerial accolades winning La Liga twice and the UEFA Champions League
in 2005-2006.
After being succeeded at Barcelona by Pep Guardiola, Rijkaard moved to Turkey to take over at Galatasaray where he was only in charge for one full season which saw his team finish in third in the Turkish league.
