Frank Schleck happy with his Tour de France performance
Frank Schleck of Team RadioShack-Nissan is happy with his performance during the opening stages of the Tour de France 2012.
The Luxembourg cyclist is having a dry season and has not bagged any victories in the first half of the season.
His only commendable performances in the current season include the third place finish during the stage 7 of the Giro d’Italia.
Frank also occupied the third overall spot at the Tour de Luxembourg and second overall position at the Tour de Suisse 2012.
The Luxembourg based cyclist currently holds the 31st overall position after the stage 5 classifications and is happy with his performance at the Tour de France 2012.
The cyclist is riding the French race without his brother Andy for the first time in the last five years and has already excluded himself from the pre-race favourites.
The 32-year-old rode brilliantly during the most recent edition of the race and occupied the third overall spot after the final general classifications.
He has also finished fifth during the 2008 and the 2009 editions of the French race and is currently marking his seventh appearance at the race.
The Luxembourg based cyclist has noted that the fatigue of the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de Suisse is restricting him from performing to his best.
"My body hurts in some places - at the knee, shoulder and also the Achilles tendon but this is no reason to worry. Such ailments are not uncommon”.
“On Friday my physiotherapist will arrive at the Luxembourg team hotel to treat me. I should then be better off”.
"All the efforts of Popovych and Voigt have paid off. [Yesterday] we were able to defend the leader's jersey for another day”.
“Thus, one can draw a positive conclusion. It looks like we should be able to keep the yellow jersey in our ranks through to Saturday”.
““This is already a great success”.
Frank was looking good for an overall victory at the Giro d’Italia but the cyclist abandoned the race after he crashed towards the end of the race.
Only time will tell, if Schleck manages to continue his 2011 Tour de France form during the coming stages of the French race.
