Frank Schleck is certain to make it through to the final Tour de France squad
Frank Schleck resumes his current season at the Tour of Luxembourg after having a disappointing end to his Giro campaign.
The cyclist is confident of his current form and considers him-self favourite for the coming event.
He was given opportunity to lead Team RadioShack-Nissan in place of Jakob Fuglsang because of his health issues.
Schleck rode exceptionally well during the first Grand Tour race of the season and was looking good for an overall victory at the race.
He was unlucky to have ended up in a crash during the stage 15 of the race which made him abandon the event.
While commenting on his future plans, Frank told Le Quotidien, “As you know, I’m flexible. For the moment, I should be at the Tour de Suisse”.
“After that, we don’t know. But I’m very confident for the Tour de France. All the same…”
He further added that, “I have communicated the things that I wanted to communicate”.
“If you take my abandon, I’ve spoken about it to various media”.
“All the facts need to be joined together to know if it was planned or not. I’m not going to repeat myself”.
“Yes, I had a problem with my shoulder and, rightly, I’m not very confident for the Tour of Luxembourg”.
The 32-year-old started riding for amateur side, Team ACC Contern in 1999 and spent a period of one year with the side.
He also represented Team De Nardi (2000), Team Festina (2001), Team Chateauroux (2002) and joined Team CSC-Tiscali in the same year.
Schleck started his professional crusade with Team CSC in 2003 and penned a deal with Team Leopard Trek in 2011.
He is continuing with the Luxembourg team for the second consecutive season and is determined to take his performance to the next level in the current season.
Frank holds as many as ten Grand Tour appearances under his belt including two Giro d’Italia, six Tour de France and two Vuelta a Espana participations to his credit.
Frank finished the race at the third position with a total deficit of 2 minute and 30 seconds on the race leader Cadel Evans.
Only time will tell, if Johan include Frank in the final Tour de France squad.
