Frank Warren wants to sue the British Boxing Board of Control – Boxing News
Frank Warren wants to sue the British Boxing Board of Control for creating hindrances in David Haye’s grudge match against Dereck Chisora. The BBBC has been against the match right from the start, and now it has warned Warren to participate in the event.
However, being the manager of Dereck Chisora, Warren believes he has no other option than to be with his fighter. In addition, Warren believes that the BBBC’s stance against the event is baseless and that he will sue the organisation for it.
Warren released his statement against the BBBC which read, “I intend to issue proceedings next week and will support all other licence-holders who feel intimidated into not participating in the Haye v Chisora promotion. I may not be the only one suing the
Board. The Board has also stopped fighters such as Kevin Mitchell, who I also manage, from fighting on the undercard. This is such a shame as Kevin was looking forward to fighting in front of the crowd at West Ham and it would have been great for the fans
to see him again. He is asking the Board to reconsider and it may be forced to do so rather than face proceedings from Kevin for the purse he would have earned together with the lost opportunity to fight in front of 40,000 people.”
Haye and Chisora are scheduled to face each other in the ring on July 14 at the Upton Park. The bout is being sanctioned by Luxembourg, as none of the fighter is a Britain licensed one. The BBBC had issued a warning against anyone who would participate in
the event. According to the BBBC, any fighter, promoter or manager who takes part in the event will have his or her license revoked. As of now, all the undercard fighters of the event will have their licenses revoked for disobedience towards the BBBC.
The BBBC had revoked Dereck Chisora’s license for his misbehaviour towards Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko earlier this year, and then being involved in a public brawl with David Haye. Even the WBC has endorsed BBBC’s decision.
