Frank Warren worried about Ricky Hatton – Boxing News
Promoter Frank Warren was a close associate of former boxing sensation Ricky Hatton during his heydays. Warren was extremely close to Hatton and so he is worried about him when it comes to Hatton making his ring return. While fellow Briton fighter Amir Khan
supports the idea of Hatton’s return, Warren rejects it, warning Hatton not to step in again.
“The writing was on the wall from his last fight that he should retire. Then he had his personal problems,” said Warren while talking about Hatton’s return.
“But the one thing he's done that we should give him credit for is clean up his act,” Warren added.
“When it came to fighting Mayweather and Pacquiao, it was a step too far for him, but then it is for virtually all fighters. For me, after beating Kostya Tszyu, he never looked the same again. He never capitalised on that win and allowed his lifestyle to
ruin his boxing career. You can't get that back,” he added.
While others are talking about Hatton’s comeback to be a money-making event, Warren talks as a close associate. Probably Warren is among the very few people who know Hatton so closely and so he knows how to keep him away from damaging himself.
Warren believes Hatton has achieved it all in the ring. The Briton has a career of 45 wins and only 2 losses. His two losses came against the best two pound for pound fighters today, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
According to Warren, Hatton does not need to come back in the ring to prove anything as he already has proved himself enough.
Warren speaks the truth to a certain extent. Hatton is counted among the best fighters of all time when it comes to the middleweight division. He definitely has a legacy and others follow him. There is nothing more left for him to prove. He defeated the
best of his time and got beaten by the best. Coming back and fighting kids will not make a difference.
Probably, Hatton might be hooked up with a fight against Briton fighter Amir Khan, who himself is on the verge of losing it all. In other words, if Hatton is defeated by Khan, it will be an embarrassment for him.
