The Amsterdammers boss has expressed confidence ahead of the Klassieker and insisted that his side is far better than their arch-rivals Feyenoord.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has expressed confidence in his troops’ abilities prior to his side’s Eredivisie clash against their arch-rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam.
The 41-year-old tactician took over the managerial hot seat at Amsterdam Arena in December 2010 after Martin Jol resigned from the head coach position following his side’s erratic results in the league. The young tactician did well in the second-half of
the 2010/11 campaign and guided his side to the Eredivisie title at the end of the season.
Although the Dutch mentor has thus far failed to impress this term, he is brimming with confidence ahead of the Klassieker. He revealed that his side has far better players than their arch-rivals Feyenoord Rotterdam.
“We are better because we have better players. I saw pretty good things in the 1-1 draw against AZ Alkmaar last Sunday. We can certainly achieve a good result against Feyenoord”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch trainer then went on to insist that the Rotterdammers have remained an inconsistent side for the past couple of seasons though he admitted that they play better in front of their home crowd.
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 is just too inconsistent. They play some good matches and then they perform very badly. In addition, there is a considerable difference in their game at home and away. They play far better at De Kuip Stadion”, De Boer added.
The 41-year-old then urged his troops not to let the Rotterdammers flourish on the pitch, as they are hard to stop once they gain momentum.
“We must avoid them from playing fluently, because once they start playing in good flow, they become very dangerous and hard to avoid”, De Boer concluded.
The Amsterdammers are sitting fourth in the Eredivisie table, three points ahead of the sixth placed Rotterdammers and five points behind the table-toppers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar.
Both sides would be gunning to bag maximum points in this encounter when the two sides meet each other at De Kuip Stadion on Sunday, January 29.
