The Eredivisie champions cruised to a comfortable 2-4 victory over PEC Zwolle, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player has stressed that his side deserved to bag all three points.
Ajax Amsterdam head coach, Frank de Boer, has stressed that his side were in control throughout the 90 minutes following his side’s 2-4 triumph over PEC Zwolle at IJsseldelta Stadion on Sunday, November 11.
The Amsterdammers dominated proceedings right from the first whistle, and managed to break the deadlock in the 12th minute through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toby-Alderweireld-c35183. In spite of taking the lead, the visiting side continued putting pressure on the PEC back-line,
and doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute through Viktor Fischer, a lead that Ajax took into the half-time break.
De Joden resumed proceedings brightly in the second-half, and managed to extend their lead further within three minutes of play through Fischer. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Siem-de-Jong-c33482 added his name to the score-sheet in the 76th minute to make the score-line 4-0.
With time running out for the hosts, it seemed like that the Amsterdam giants will cruise to a comfortable win. However, two goals in quick succession reduced the deficit to two goals with seven minutes remaining on the clock before the full time whistle.
Denni Advic netted the first goal for the home side, while Jesper Drost’s strike made it 2-4 in the 83rd minute.
Nonetheless, PEC’s late heroics were not enough to salvage them even a single point, as Ajax held their nerves to secure a win at the end.
De Boer admitted that his side remained the better side throughout the game apart from the final 10 minutes of action.
“Today, I left the responsibility to defeat Zwolle in the players’ hands. We were in control and were threatening, though, the control should have lasted about ten minutes more. The fact that we were a bit jittery after the 0-4 is probably due to the young
defence. And the last fifteen minutes is always difficult after a European match. But we deserved to win”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the journalists in the post-match press conference.
Ajax are currently sitting fourth in the league standings, a mammoth nine points behind the table-toppers, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven.
