The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player has urged his side to put behind their disappointing 1-1 draw against ADO on Eredivisie matchday 6, and turn their focus on the upcoming KNVB beker Cup clash.
In the second round of KNVB beker Cup, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 will lock horns against Ajax Amsterdam at Galgenwaard Stadion on Wednesday, September 26.
The Amsterdammers head coach, Frank de Boer, has expressed confidence ahead of his side's upcoming encounter against Jan Wouter's men, and has urged his troops to put in an impressive show away from home to claim a good result.
De Joden are heading into the game on the back of a demoralising 1-1 draw against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/ADO-Den-Haag-c38221 at Kyocera Stadion on Sunday, September 23.
The home side grabbed an early lead through http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tom-c35214 Beugelsdijk, but Ryan Babel’s strike moments after the hour-mark levelled the score-line. Both sides failed to add any more goals in the remaining action of the game, and the match
ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
“Everyone was disappointed following the 1-1 draw against ADO. However, we must forget about it, and turn our attention towards the Dutch cup game”, De Boer was quoted as saying to the media.
The Dutch trainer went on to admit that his side failed to assert their authority against ADO, and dropped two crucial points at the end.
“We were not sharp enough against ADO. However, we cannot play in the same manner against Utrecht. They are a good side, and we must be ready to face an uphill task”, De Boer added.
The 42-year-old tactician will have to do without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thulani-Serero-c35022 due to injury. Fabian Sporkslede will be making his debut while wearing De Joden colours on Wednesday, and De Boer has expressed confidence in the
youngster’s abilities.
“Fabian has earned it. He played brilliantly with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/U-17-Youth-team-c40787 in the NextGen Series last week. In addition, he had a terrific evening with Jong Ajax, and I was extremely pleased with his showings”, the former Dutch defender
concluded.
Ajax have abysmal record against the Utreg in recent years, losing four of their last five head-to-head encounters. However, the Amsterdammers would be keen to emerge victorious on Wednesday, and make progression to the next round
of the competition.
